Lexus is opening up about its future plans for the LFA supercar – and they involve a stunning roadster. The Japanese luxury brand will put a special drop-top version of its incredible 552bhp 4.8-litre V10-engined flagship into production in 2014, a year or so after it expects to finish delivering the 500-model run of fixed roof coupes.
The LFA Roadster first appeared in thinly disguised concept form at the 2008 Detroit Motor Show, with Auto Express spying several drop-top prototypes at the same time.
It’s not clear whether the hood will be made of metal or canvas – but whatever the material, it will be as lightweight as possible. Expect a price tag of around £400,000 – £25,000 more than the coupe.
That’s not it for new Lexus models, though. The firm’s BMW 5 Series-rivalling GS will be revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in California later this month. For more details click here.
